Illamasqua Liquid Metal Electrum (Antique Gold) - The Magic Metal Look

Illamaqua is one of my favourite brands, have you tried anything by them?

Have you tried this? If not your missing out!!!!

Illamasqua Liquid Metals are one of the most unique products out there. I fist tried Antique Gold when I ordered a mystery box (daring right!) and it was love at first swatch. So versatile, there endless ways to wear this, bold or subtle.

Do you like Illamasqua not quite plain packaging?

The liquid metal comes in a not quite square sturdy pot, clear heavy duty and luxe plastic reveals the antique gold inside, which is topped by a glossy black lid embossed with the Illamasqua logo. It's simple but unique just like the brand. Gliding your finger across the surface of the metal, it feels super smooth, just like a gold ring and the pigmentation is super intense. Even blended out it still keeps it's pot colour. I find it an hypnotising product as liquid metal is just the perfect name. Its highly shiny and metallic but there is no shimmer or gloss, its edgy and futuristic.

The product is so easy to access compared to pots as the jar is flat.

Unfortunately there are downsides, using it on the lid requires patients and time. The creamy textures glides on so easily but it also creases so you will need to layer with primer and matt shadows to get an intense look with no creasing. However, that aside use it above the below the brow as an golden highlight, along the lash line for a touch of glam, or blend a small amount onto the cheek bones, forehead and nose bridge for a subtle golden glow. Alternatively you can get really creative and make yourself into something rather magical. The website has loads of inspiration (and so does google).

So brightly pigmented, but it's also so blendable.

The versatility and uses of this product would keep me purchasing and the magic liquid look is just an added bonus. I can't wait to try more colours, the palette is just way to tempting.

Sadly it looks like they are discontinuing the product, but if you can mange to get your hands of them they are defiantly worth it. Full price at £17.50 they are quite expensive, but I could imagine you could pick them up quite cheaply now.

P.S alongside Antique Gold I also own Molten Pewter which is in the fundamentals palette, perfect for a cooler look.
